Help – My eyebrows are out of control!

Some of us are blessed with gorgeous brows but for the majority of us, tweezing, waxing, filling in (or filling out) with brow pencils is a daily ritual.

There are many reasons why our brows appear to have a mind of their own, it can either be down to genetics, over-plucking, or as we age our eyebrows become more coarse as a result of pigment changes in the hair shaft itself, causing hairs to become coarser and “wilder”. It’s for this reason that we also find rogue hairs growing out of our chin which appear from nowhere (but that’s a whole different blog!)

Great, brows can make or break a look as well as helping you to feel younger and fresher even when going make-up free. If you’re a selfie queen, they’re an absolute must!

Social media is full of glowing celebrities showing off their gorgeous shaped brows effortlessly but have you ever wondered how they do it. This great blog by US based opmake.up sheds some light on how some of the biggest celebs tame their brows.

Kim Kardashian, argueably one of the most photographed women in the world at the moment, seems to have perfect brows 24/7. So what’s her secret? According to her team she starts by waxing and trimming excess hair, then shapes the brow with some foundation. After that she fills in her brow with pencil and finishes with some gel. As a final flourish she highlights under the brow. Of course, Kim is a busy lady so as you’d expect she has a brow expert on hand. And incase you wondered, her “browchitect” of choice is none other than Anastasia Soare of Anastasia Beverley Hills

If Kim’s brow routine is too time consuming for you, you might want to look for own “browchitect” in the guise of a microblading artist who specializes in microblading eyebrows. Microblading uses semi-permanent makeup that gives you the brows you’ve always dreamed of (or used to have!) and lasts for up to 2 years. Microblading is a form of cosmetic tattooing, using pigments rather than ink, which means it fades gradually and can be “topped up” after a period of time. More importantly microblading enables you to change your brow shape as your face and brow fashions change.

If you’re considering this option, make sure you choose a microblading practitioner who uses high quality pigments, we love Tina Davies pigments as they are vegan and cruelty free.

It’s also important to ensure you choose a microblading specialist you feel comfortable with, after all, your brows are, quite literally, in their hands.

Follow these 3 steps to help make the right decision when choosing a microblading expert;

1. Book an initial consultation to meet them and discuss the shape and colour you want.

2. Ask to see before and after pictures of their work (not stock photo’s).

3. Check their clinic workspace, it should be clean and hygienic for your safety and they should take time to explain the process to you including their top up policy and aftercare.

If the above seems in order, then you’re probably good to go!

In terms of cost, a microblading session takes around 90 minutes and costs £225 – a small price to pay for not having to tame your brows every day!
