Beauty is changing and the latest aesthetic treatments in the market are all about improving the way we look instead of dramatically changing it.
Last year saw a significant shift in cosmetic procedures. More and more people are now looking for enhancement and not alteration, a trend which is contributing to the rise of non-surgical face and body treatments.
Although surgical cosmetic procedures remain popular, there has been a shift in the type of treatments.
According to The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) — the only organisation solely dedicated to advancing safety, innovation and excellence in cosmetic surgery— latest figures show that the three most popular procedures for women were breast augmentation, breast reduction and blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery). Liposuction and facelift treatments all showed a sharp rise in popularity.
Developments in aesthetic treatments mean that there are now clinically proven non-surgical alternatives which deliver impressive results without going under the knife. At ERA, we specialise in the following:
Fat Freezing & Body Sculpting
When it comes to reducing unwanted fat and shaping your body, there are various systems available which can give you great results — Coolsculpting™, Emscuplt™ and Cryoliposculpt™ being among the most popular.
Some systems just freeze away fat, others such as Cryoliposcuplt™ actively tone the area whilst it’s being frozen, ensuring you are not left with lax skin, which can be a side effect of this treatment.
Fat freezing is a process which involves applying a specialist hand-piece over the areas with an excess of fat which breaks the fat cells down by freezing them which disputes the cells structure (a process known as apoptosis). These cells are then removed by the natural process of your body over a period of four to six weeks.
Unlike a surgical procedure, most people see between 30-50% reduction in fat in the treated area without medication or recovery time needed.
HIFU: Skin Tightening
High Intensity Focussed Ultrasound (known as HIFU) is a non-invasive, highly effective treatment to lift and tighten sagging skin. Commonly referred to as the ‘non-surgical facelift’ or ‘lunchtime lift,’ it has become a popular non-surgical alternative to improve skin tightness in both, face and body.
HIFU uses ultrasound energy to penetrate deep into the skin, targeting the SMAS (superficial muscular aponeurotic system) as well as the skin and stimulating natural collagen production. As a result, your skin becomes firmer, a lot tighter and with a much more even tone.
The treatment takes around 90 minutes and results develop gradually over 3 months, lasting up to 18 months.
Dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections have been around for decades. They are designed to add and replace volume, redefine facial shape and structure, help smooth fine lines and wrinkles, plump the lips and restore a more youthful appearance overall.
If you have lax skin, however, especially around the mid face and jawline, then dermal fillers may not give you the plumper look you are hoping for. There is a new kid on the block which has taken the beauty world by storm, this is Profilho®
Profilho® is a non-permanent, injectable anti-ageing treatment made from hyaluronic acid and designed to treat skin that’s losing its elasticity and firmness. Hyaluronic acid is a substance produced naturally by our body, which means it doesn’t try to fight it or get rid of it. As we age, however, the production of hyaluronic acid lessens, and this becomes visible in our skin, which turns duller and dehydrated and experiences the first signs of ageing, with fine lines and wrinkles forming around the eyes and mouth.
Profilho® is injected under the skin at various points where it gradually spreads out over a 48-hour period of time, plumping skin, reducing fine lines and wrinkles and improving skin tone. Two treatments are required one month apartand results last between 6-9 months.
If you are considering getting injectables, it’s important you work with a professional doctor, who has a sound knowledge and understanding of facial anatomy in order to receive the safest and most suited aesthetic procedure.
